Annually in November, we host Sharkfest, a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) event. This event hosts 48 Challenge Teams, 16 Explore Teams and Discover teams in the area. Challenge Teams are competing to win awards and move on to States Championships. Explore Teams and Discover Teams are Celebrating their season at a Festival. During the Festival the Teams get to explore robots from FRC and FTC, play & experiment with our Shark Kits and dive into a STEAM activity. SharkFest is an exciting event, and most importantly, the kids had a blast!
Sharknado is FIRST TECH Challenge (FTC), usually held in November. This is a qualifying event for our Michigan Middle School teams. FTC introduces students to "Robotics Competition" at a scaled down level with robots limited to 18" x 18".
Shark Splash, a FIRST LEGO League - Challenge (FLL-C) event. for Upper Elementary Students. This event is held in the spring as an Offseason Event. This provides rookie and veteran teams an opportunity to practice their game and presentation skills. New teams are getting their feet wet with Spike Prime coding, LEGO Robot building, Innovation research and project presenting. This prepares them for the Competitive Season in the fall.
Troy MAYhem a is FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) event. This event is held in May as an Offseason Event for Rookie and Veteran Teams. It provides an opportunity for teams to practice their game and presentation skills. New teams are getting their feet wet with ONShape CAD, small scale metal robot building, Python/Java & programing and Team project presentation skills of their Team's outreach. This prepares them for the Competitive Season in the fall.
